End of a decent week

Didn't blog yesterday because ended up watching Inter v Chelsea the night before and decided to get drunk on Stella Artois, not a good choice of beers on a school night. Woke up yesterday with a headache from hell and feeling quite fuzzy. I actually decided to trade (bad mistake), ended up entering 2 trades on my scalper, which looking back i shouldn't have entered and losing -47 pips. So thought to myself, better stop for the day, so simply went back to bed......

LESSON LEARNT - NEVER TRADE WITH A HANGOVER OR DRINK STELLA!!!!

Today was a no trade on my breakout, so i can officially report, that this is its first losing month since i started trading it a year or so ago. The ADR is still pretty high, so will stick with +75 as my target and keep a close eye on it during March. Jan was B/E, this month -30.

The scalper made me a nice +40.5 pips today with 1 trade still active - EJ Long, it's already hit 1st target, so waiting for it to hit 2nd now - fingers crossed!

Results for the month so far:
Breakout = -36 (But on paper should be -30)
Scalper = +386 (with an EJ Long still active - actually should be +433 on paper but unfortunately i lost pips the other day because of the Stella head)

Percentage Increase = 16.9%.

So all in all a decent month and happy with both strategies, although my breakout may require a bit of tweaking here and there.

Have a great weekend and i'll see you all bright and early Monday for the start of a new month.

Quiet Day....

Hi guys, a little quiet for me today on both strategies.

Woke up very early to set up my breakout and it turned out to be a no trade because the EMA (Exponential Moving Average) was running through the box. So 2 days left to trade this month and it's currently on -15, i do hope i get a lucky win to put this strategy into profit - my fingers are crossed!!!

My scalper had a stormer yesterday (+86 pips), so deserved a quiet one. Started off this morning with a nice +30 pips in the bag, but after a few dodgy trades, it's now on -4.2, with an EJ short still active, which isn't looking too rosy.

Results for the month so far:
Breakout = -21 (But on paper should be -15)
Scalper = +392.50 (with an EJ short still active)

I am demo trading 2 robots, 1 of them hasn't had a trade yet and the other is showing a drawdown.I will keep running them to see how they go, but not looking great at the moment.

Ok that's me done for the day, off to do a bit of kick boxing, then getting my jabs sorted out for my trip to Thailand in 4 weeks - woop, woop.

Don't forget, Inter Milan V Chelsea tonight, i have a bet on Chelsea to win the Champions league full stop, so i'll be hoping they can get a decent result but it's going to be difficult.

Have a fun afternoon.

Brilliant Morning!!!

Had a cracking morning, my breakout activated for a Long trade, shot up, hit +25, so moved SL to B/E and unfortunately it retraced and hit it, so nothing gained and nothing lost there. Still -15 on that one for the month, with 3 trading days left to go.

Made a cracking +86.8 pips on my scalper this morning. EU - +32.7 & EJ - +54.1. Made this very early on this morning, and for the past hour and half i have had no signals, but that's fine after the great early morning trades. Yesterday if you remember i had a Long trade open on EU and that hit first target (+16.4 pips), but didn't make it to second target, but happy with that.

Results for the month so far:
Breakout = -21 (But on paper should be -15)
Scalper = +396.70

So a great mornings work and ready for tomorrow now - BRING IT ON MARKETS!!!

Monday, 22 February 2010

Not a great start to the week!!!

Hi guys hope you all had a cracking weekend, i literally did nothing, yep, absolutely nothing - it was great!!!

Ok onto trading... No trade for my breakout, had it all set up for a Long trade, but it hadn't activated by 0830 GMT, so cancelled it. This month so far it's on -15, with 4 days left to trade, bearing in mind this hasn't had a losing month since i started trading it a good year or so ago - could this be its first, we will see.....

My scalper hasn't done much today, i'm currently on -16.8, but i have an EU Long still active. First target is 13619, second target is 13633, so we will see what happens here. My SL is at 13588, so works out at about 18.4 pips, so if this losers it will be a bad day at the office (-53.6 - you x SL by 2 because of double position size), if it wins and reaches both targets it will put me on +25.2, so happy days - fingers crossed hey!!!

Results for the month so far:
Breakout = -21 (But on paper should be -15)
Scalper = +293.50 (with 1 trade still active - EU Long)

I am testing 2 Robots at the moment, both looking pretty good, so after a few months worth of testing and a lot more research i may be adding them to my portfolio..... maybe......

That's me done, good luck with the rest of the day, cya.

Another week has gone by and a pretty decent week for both strategies. My breakout came to life a little, bagging a winner (at last)and my new scalping strategy is doing pretty good as well, so maybe the tides are turning for me - hope so.

My breakout activated today, but lasted all of 10 mins and hit my SL at -15 pips, so a loser there, but for the month, after yesterdays win, on paper it is -15, so not too bad considering my target per trade is +75.

My scalper is doing ok today, made a few trades, but because the EJ and EU are in a bit of a range, it's made it a little difficult to make any decent profits, so happy with a small loss. EU = +19.6 & EJ = -28.8 (but with 1 trade still running). So total today, minus the 1 trade still active is -9.2..... My second target on the EJ trade is 12420.

Results for the month so far:
Breakout = -21 (But on paper should be -15)
Scalper = +310.3 (with 1 trade still active - EJ Long)

If we are talking percentage increase, overall this week i am up +14.25%.

A lot of interesting stuff going on in my live trading room, so things are looking very positive for me at the moment. I am hopefully going to be looking at joining FX500 Club, probably back end of March and also demo trading a few robots (EA's) on Dukoscopy platform.

Well that's it from me, have a cracking weekend - more rugby to watch.

Thursday, 18 February 2010

We have a breakout winner -sort of.....

My breakout activated today for a short, reached +25, so moved my SL to B/E. At this point i thought it was going to retrace like it normally does, but hey, it didn't, it actually stalled for a while and then shot down. It got to +60, so moved my SL to +15, it then started to bounce around the 15577 mark, so after watching it mess about for a while i decided to exit the trade with a nice +69, so just 6 pips short of a full house. Now if i would have left it, i would actually still be in it with my SL at 15630.6 (+15), so lets wait and see if it makes the full +75.

The Scalper did ok today, EU = +39.1 and EJ = -32.2 (but with a trade still running). Yesterday i had a couple of trades open, combined it finished on +1.9 pips, WOW!!!

Results for the month so far:
Breakout = -6 (But lets see on paper if a full house comes in or a +15)
Scalper = +319.5 (with 1 trade still active - EJ Long)

So today was a pretty decent day and happy that my breakout found its feet a bit, but will be even happier if it actually meets the full target - we will see.

Good luck to you afternoon traders - Adios!!!

Breakout, oh Breakout............

GGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

Yep, yep, yep, my breakout activated, hit +25, then retraced and hit my SL at B/E. I'm beginning to sound like a broken record. Nothing else to discuss about this, but read an interesting article yesterday that may interest you breakout traders. See below:

"The markets have been extremely difficult to trade over the last 2 weeks in particluar, because of the negative correlation across most currency pairs imposed by problems in the European Union (Greece debt problems). For example, GBPUSD and EURUSD enjoyed a correlation factor of .88 for the last 2 years. The last weeks it was at 0.01! So GBPUSD and EURUSD moves together 88% of the time until the Greece problem hit! I am sure you know that the best breakouts occur when the currency pairs are moving together. This is not happening freely anymore"

My scalper is going pretty well, today I have EU = +42.8 and EJ = -14.5, but currently in another Short trade from 12427, 1st target is 12409 and the 2nd target is 12391, so fingers crossed i can get a result here, but it seems to want to go up at the minute???

Results for the month so far:
Breakout = -75
Scalper = +317.6 (with 1 trade still active)

That's it for today - come on EJ you toad!!!

Tuesday, 16 February 2010

Breakout - Nooooo!!!!

Hi guys, please can someone tell my breakout to sort itself out. Another trade today, and another loser, so -75 for the month. Only had 5 losers in a row once before, so this isn't looking too rosy.

Started off well on my scalping strategy this morning, but then had a few dodgy signals that brought my profits down a little, but nothing too disturbing. I am very confident about this strategy and as soon as i know when it's going on sale, ill let you know. Today EU was -26.4 and EJ was +15.6, so this brings the monthly total to +279.3, so still comfortably ahead.

Results for the month so far:
Breakout = -75
Scalper = +279.3

Anyway i'm off to take the dog out - happy trading and good luck.

Tumble Weed....

Well what a great weekend of rugby, especially the Wales V Scotland game, what a cracker that was! Thought Scotland deserved something from the game, but fair play to Wales, played till the end and got the result.

Today was a no trade on my breakout strategy, so still stuck on the -60 mark.

After a slow start this morning, I finally placed a Long trade on EU, which bagged me a nice and easy +15 pips, unfortunately it didn't hit my second target, but stopped out at B/E. Just come in on an EJ short from 12251, 1st target is 12238, 2nd target is 12225 and SL is at 12265(14 pips). This trade is still running, so will update my blog tomorrow with the result from this, but looking ok at the minute.

Results for the month so far:
Breakout = -60
Scalper = +290.1(with 1 trade still active)

That's it folks, short, but sweet.

Happy trading.

Breakout - Stalemate!!!

Well after having a full week of no trades on my breakout, it finally activated Long today and again hit +25, so moved my SL to B/E and what did it go and do...... retraced and hit it AGAIN.................... Nothing more to be said about that one, GGRRR!!!

My new scalper had a decent morning, EU = +45.1 & EJ = B/E, so that puts it on +275.1 for the month and that's working 0600 till 1200 GMT everyday.

Not going to mention my percentage increase/decrease this month because i have stopped trading Ichimoku and my new strategy is using small stakes, so everything is a little skewed, will start again beginning of March.

Results for the month so far:
Breakout = -60
Scalper = +275.1

Have a cracking weekend guys, some good footy and rugby to be watched.

STOP PRESS!!!

I didn't update my blog yesterday due to me having to re-think my trading plan (again, i here you say), yes again unfortunately... Beginning of the year i was able to trade basically all day, however due to some personal stuff (nothing too concerning) i am now only able to trade till 1200hrs full stop. Now your probably thinking that's what he used to do anyway and you would be right, but the problem with Ichimoku is that you have to let trades run throughout the day sometimes and if i'm not around to check them, then i'm a little buggered!!! When your trading with your large account this can become worrying. So again Mr Scully has had to change his trading plan/style. I will now still trade my breakout, but Ichimoku is now being put on the back burner and i am now trading a very simple, but effective scalping strategy i have been testing for someone with great success. I cannot disclose the strategy to anyone just yet, but will start recording results on here.

So i now trade breakout on Cable and my new scalping strategy on EU and EJ, 0600 till 1200hrs. This month already the scalping strategy is on +230, so going very well indeed. Today i made EU = +8.3 & EJ = +65.5, this is with an average SL of about 20 pips, never exceeding 30.

So again another change to my plan and for any newbies reading this, DO NOT follow my lead and change half way through a month, as it's not the way to go, but for me it's a necessity unfortunately.

Results for the month so far:
Breakout = -60
Scalper = +230
Ichimoku = Would have been on about +45ish for the month, but stopped trading as of today.

Ok guys, thanks for reading and this time i will be sticking to this 100%...... promise.........

Happy trading......

Moving Along Nicely

My favourite word for the month is "Controlled", and that's exactly how my trading is going at the moment. My Ichi trading is going very well by only going for what i think are the high probability trades. I'm now beginning to feel like a trader in the sense that i'm making my own trading decisions, based on technical indicators, rather than following a strategy blindly, so happy with my progression. This is not saying that following a system is not the way to go, it's just that i feel more comfortable with my trading, doing it this way.

No trade on my breakout this morning unfortunately, but at least no loss....

The Ichi EG trade i entered on Fri made me a nice +27 pips, so that worked out well for me. I entered another EG trade Long today from 8784.9, with my SL now at 8790, so pips bagged there again whatever happens, but will follow the KS for exit later on. Also just entered a GU trade short from 15574.9, with SL at 15620. Nearly missed that one because i was waiting for the news to finish at 1030, then realised i was on Wednesdays news, not today's, what a CLOWN i hear you shout - LOL! Just got in the trade at the right time, all down to Dave from my chat room - cheers mate!!!

Results for the month so far:
Breakout = -60
Ichimoku = +71.4 (With an EG Long active, currently on +25 pips & GU short, currently about B/E)

So not bad at all, just the 1 win on my breakout, puts me in a great position for the month, just got to keep the faith....

Fresh Week

Hope you all had a good weekend.

Some great rugby to watch yesterday and some cracking football kept me pretty busy throughout the weekend.

Had another frustrating morning with my breakout. It activated, went to about +40ish pips, so moved my SL to B/E and it decided to retrace and hit it, so B/E for me today on that one.

Placed another great trade on EG Long on Fri afternoon using Ichimoku. I usually stop trading around 1200ish, but this trade took my fancy, so i waited for it to break 8735, which it did around 1630ish, so entered Long at 8741. My original SL was at 8705, so about 36 pips. It is now about +53 pips in profit and my SL is now at 8765, so whatever happens, pips will be bagged. I'm going to stick with it and wait for it to cross the KS. Nothing takes my fancy today, but i must say i am liking this controlled way of trading, it sure suits my trading style.

Results for the month so far:
Breakout = -60
Ichimoku = +44.4 (With an EG Long active, currently on +53 pips)

So a decent start to the week and a profitable day whatever happens to this EG trade.

See you tomorrow.

Breakout is p#ssing me off!!!

Sorry for the rude title, but it really is starting to "BLEEP" me off now. Again it activated and hit my SL, all within 10 mins or so. Just checked through my past results and noticed that NFP Fridays are not good for my breakout strategy, so no more Breakouts on these days for me.

Had a cracking trade yesterday on UCAD, thought it was looking a little dodgy at one point, but after a while it did what i original thought it was going to do when i entered the trade and shot up. So a nice +81.3 pips taken from the markets.

So although my breakout is messing me about again, i'm confident with my Ichi trading and have made a profit with this strategy this week, just need to sort out my breakout now.

Due to different SL sizes on my Ichi trades, the amount of pips actually mean nothing, it's the percentage increase/decrease that counts, so below are the details:

Percentage Increase/Decrease:
Breakout = -11.5%
Ichi = +3.3%
Total for the Month = -8.2%

Results for the month so far:
Breakout = -60
Ichimoku = +44.4

So another week goes by, hope you all did ok and i'll see you Mon.

Thursday, 4 February 2010

GRRRRRR!!!

Hmmmm, once again my breakout hit the SL by 0.5 pips and then went onto win, this is now getting very frustrating, but hey got to keep them emotions in check - ARRGGGHHHHHHH!!!! No, keep them in check......

Quiet again on the Ichi front, placed one trade Long on UCAD from 10638.7, with my SL at 10600. This trade is not looking great, but still in it... just.... The UCHF trade i was in from yesterday closed out with a small profit of +12, so reasonably happy with that.

I have changed my comments section below, so that anyone can now leave comments without having to be a member of Google, etc, etc. If you would like to comment, you can now Just click on the comments link below and select either Name/URL or Anonymous.

Results for the month so far:
Breakout = -45
Ichimoku = -36.9 (With 1 trade still active on UCAD currently @ -10)

That's it for today, here's hoping tomorrow is better (for me anyway).

Wednesday, 3 February 2010

Frustrating Breakout!!!

Well again my breakout tried its best, but the news at 0930 let me down. Unfortunately we had a spike to the downside, which meant it hit my SL at B/E. Anyway least it's not a loss hey, so that makes it 3 trades, 2 losses & 1 B/E.

Quiet again with my Ichi trading, but i did mention in one of my previous posts that i will be trying my best to catch what i think are high probability trades, so i'm just waiting to pounce! Although i did enter a UCHF Short trade today from 10547, with my original SL at 10565 (SL = 18). I have now moved this to 10535, so +12 pips bagged whatever happens, but hoping to let it run and will close when the market closes back above the KS. Wish me luck....

Results for the month so far:
Breakout = -30
Ichimoku = -48.9 (With 1 trade still active @ +35)

So not a bad start to the month, but then again not great. From now on i will update you with my percentage increase/loss at the end of each week. This was mentioned in the live trading room i am a member of and i think it's a good idea to report on this weekly from now on.

Adios and happy trading!!!

Annoying Cable!!!

Another frustrating day on Cable yesterday. My breakout activated Short and again it took all of 40 seconds for it to hit my SL of 15, so -30 for the month - 2 trades, 2 losses.

I was searching for some decent Ichi trades yesterday and none stood out for me, however i did take GU short, once it broke free from the Kumo, but it messed about for a few hours then decided to go Long, so a loss of 50 pips there. This trade wasn't a perfect set up, but took some other factors into account and went for it, wish i hadn't.

My breakout has activated again today. It's Long from 16020.8, but the good thing about this is that i have moved my SL to B/E, so free trade today. I will next move my SL to +15 if it reaches 16080 and my final target of +75 is 16095.8.

No Ichi trades yet, but it's still early days.

So for the month so far i am 8% down.

Results for the month so far:
Breakout = -30 (with 1 trade active @ +15)
Ichimoku = -48.9

PUSH THAT CABLE UP FOR ME PLEASE GUYS!!!

Monday, 1 February 2010

Start of a new month!!!

It's the start of a new month and i'm hoping this month will show a higher return on my initial investment. Made +4% last month, but that isn't going to make me rich, however some positives definitely came out of last month and i look forward to moving forwards.

I have been doing some serious thinking over the weekend and have decided to strip down my strategies or should i say strip down the amount of strategies i trade. I have definitely been over trading and have realised that to make cash in this game it's not about trying to trade every single strategy and take as many trades as you possibly can, it's about probabilities and ensuring you try and catch the good trades, i.e. the ones with a high probability of them coming in. So from now on i will be trading just the one breakout strategy and that is my S2 strategy on Cable (SL 15, PT 75) and i will be trading Ichimoku across 10 pairs and that is it. So no more S1, S3 and Dax for me, i'm going to concentrate my efforts solely on these two strategies. My breakout strategy was extremely profitable last year, so there is no need to trade any other breakout if this is bringing in profits and because i am only trading the one now if it needs tweaking i have the time to do this. Ichimoku is traded across 10 pairs, so need to concentrate on this quite a bit and stripping back my trading plan allows me to do this. I will only be taking the quality trades on this now as before i was taking nearly every single trade that crossed the Kumo clouds, so you sometimes had a run of losers to contend with, but now i will only be taking the high probability trades that are more or less going with the trend. This should eliminate a lot of losers and make it much more controlled.

So today going with my new plan, S2 was -15, unfortunately i was a little unlucky again, it hit my SL by 2 pips and has gone onto to win, but hey it happens. No trades took my fancy on Ichimoku, so break even there.

Results below:

Breakout = -15
Ichimoku = 0

I am now trading breakout at 3% and Ichimoku at 2%. Breakout is traded at 3% because it has been traded live all of last year and brought in great profits, plus sometimes you don't even trade, so small amount of trades per month. Ichimoku is at 2% because i have back tested and live tested this and i think i can make this work if i concentrate and only take the high probability trades. I said i was going to test for another month, but i'm going to go for it.

Hope those of you who read this have got off to a good start. See you tomorrow.
